OUR MISSION
The Robert R. Frank Student-Run Free Clinic (SRFC) is a fully functional primary care clinic that provides completely free care to the uninsured people of Metro Detroit, and is entirely run by students from the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
OUR STORY
The Robert R. Frank Student-Run Free Clinic first opened its doors on May 22nd, 2010 as the first student-run free clinic in Michigan. Dedicated to the underserved and uninsured public of Detroit, hundreds of patients have come through to receive excellent and continuous care from our volunteers. Our partnerships with community organizations like Mercy Primary Care, the Society of Student-Run Free Clinics, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and the Wayne State University Department of Family Medicine provide us the connections and resources necessary to fulfill our mission. Hundreds of WSUSOM students volunteer at the clinic, serving as healthcare providers and supervised by several Family Medicine physicians from neighboring hospital networks. Led by a passionate group of second year students and guided by our Board of Advisors and fourth year mentors, the clinic continues to grow and provide new and better services to our patients and more in depth training to our volunteers.
